Volunteer opportunity with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service

An exciting opportunity for ADULT VOLUNTEER YOUTH INSTRUCTORS based in Wick Fire Station.

The SFRS are opening a Youth Volunteer Program.  This opportunity will encourage young people to become youth volunteers within the Fire & Rescue Service and is aimed at young people ages 13-18

Some of the main aims and benefits of the scheme for the young people include:

  1. Gaining a practical understanding of the SFRS and play a supportive role in their local communities
  2. Becoming more successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors with improved life skills.
  3. Increased capacity for further learning, employability and volunteering.

This scheme is based on a 'cadet' type environment where adult instructors mentor and encourage young people to gain skills and learn about the Fire And Rescue services and their local community.

Volunteer instructors should have experience of working with young people, an awareness of child protection and wellbeing practices, confidence, patience and demonstrate confidentiality.  Volunteers will be subject to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups disclosure check. Applications are open from 21st Nov to Sunday 8th Dec. application pack available www.myjobscotland.gov.uk
