Business volunteering at Wick Riverside

Highland & Island Enterprise Staff making a difference in Wick

On a lovely summer day last week the staff of the Highland and Island Enterprise [HIE] were out of the Thurso office to lend a hand to Wick Riverside Volunteers.   HIE supports staff members to volunteer during working hours as part of their commitment to community engagement.

Everyone rolled up their sleeves and helped to paint benches, weed flowerbeds and clear paths.  Ruth Falconer, a volunteer with Wick Riverside Volunteers said “ What a massive difference you made and the riverside now looks beautiful, wonderful Caithness spirit”   she also wants to thank local business, McAllan’s paint shop, O’Brian’s construction, Birons Ironmongers, the Wood Yard, Highland Council, North Highland Harriers and Caithness Voluntary Group for their support and donations of material.

If you are a business able to offer corporate support to a community group, contact Catherine at Caithness Voluntary Group and she will be happy to liaise with everyone to make a difference to your local area.
