FOUNDATION AWARDS OVER £300,000 TO SUPPORT CORE CHARITY WORK
1st December 2010
Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland has awarded over £300,000 in funding to 50 Scottish charities. Over £290,000 of this has been awarded through the Foundation’s Henry Duncan Awards programme which support grassroots charities, and over £18,000 through the Capacity Building programme which supports charities to review how well they are performing and put in place improvements.

Speaking about the £314,721 awarded, Mary Craig OBE, Chief Executive of the Foundation, said: “This is the second round of awards we’ve made this year, and we’re delighted to be able to support the great work of Scotland’s charities. A large number of the awards we have made will be used to pay for core running costs of charities. These range from £1,980 which will be used to cover room hire, materials and tutor fees for a social club for people with learning disabilities, to £8,000 which will cover the property rental costs for a group.

“Without support to pay for these essential core costs, many charities would not be able to deliver their vital work in local communities, so this funding will make a huge difference. Regardless of the amount of money a charity gets, our funding is targeted at improving the quality of life of people in communities throughout Scotland.”
