BT Community Connections
Community and charitable organisations, working in any field of community benefit from anywhere in the UK or republic of Ireland can apply for a laptop and a year’s worth of broadband connection.
This fund is closed to applications.
WHO CAN APPLY?
•Groups are only eligible to apply if they have a BT landline.
•Applications are welcomed from a diverse range of community organisations, charities, social enterprises and community interest companies. Previous BT Community Connections winners include silver surfers, cultural groups, conservation organisations, family support groups, healthy living clubs, arts and music groups, sports teams and youth clubs.
•applications from groups able to demonstrate how they help the local community learn about the benefits of the internet and how they will train members of the community on how to use the internet.
•Priority will be given to applications from community groups that operate in areas of deprivation*
•Priority will be given to community groups that have not previously won an award. However, previous award winners are eligible to apply and will be considered, providing they meet the application criteria.
•Applications are welcomed from religious organisations that carry out work which benefits members of the local community, regardless of their religion or belief, if they are able to demonstrate how they help the local community learn about the benefits of the internet and how they train members of the community on how to use the internet. Groups which exist to promote religion itself, and groups where the community must participate in religious services in order to benefit, are not eligible to apply. Groups that promote political parties are not eligible to apply.
•Groups must be based in the United Kingdom (UK) to be eligible to apply.
•Employees of British Telecommunications plc or Lumina CR Ltd, their families or agents are not eligible to apply.
•The person authorised by their group to submit the application on its behalf must be over 18 years of age and resident in the United Kingdom.
* As defined by the Department for Communities and Local Government Index of Multiple Individual Deprivation (IMID) based on measures of health, employment, income and education in addition to political and social indicators.

AWARD WINNERS
•As part of the award package, successful applicants are expected to conduct regular internet taster sessions and further training for members of the community.
•We need to know how many people that you have helped and we will provide either an online registration form or pro-forma which successful applicants are required to update monthly.
•Successful applicants will be required to complete and return an evaluation questionnaire within three months of award delivery.
•Successful applicants may be required to participate in publicity or advertising in connection with the award and BT may use and publish the details of successful applicants.
•BT may also appoint an assessor, who would be responsible for visiting and reporting on the progress of the group’s use of the award.
JUDGING
•Every application form will be assessed and those short-listed will be judged by members of a panel. Please note the judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. A list of winners will be posted on the BT Community Connections website by the end of February 2011. Copies can be obtained by writing to BT Community Connections, PO Box 6919, London, W1A 8UX, enclosing an A4, stamped addressed envelope.
BROADBAND AWARD
•The award will be 12 months’ free connection to BT Business Total Broadband Advance (opens in a new window), which includes features described in the standard products and services terms. Award winners will be required to accept the standard terms and conditions for the service.
•A fair use policy applies (opens in a new window).
•If award winners wish to order any additional hardware or features, any additional cost will need to be funded by the award winner. BT will only fund 12 months’ connection to BT Business Total Broadband Advance.
•In order to receive the free broadband, award winners need to have a BT business landline. To find out if your BT landline is business or residential, please call 0800 800 150. Any winner with a BT residential landline can transfer to a business line free of charge but there may be additional ongoing charges for having the business line. •At the end of the 12 months’ award period, BT will automatically terminate the broadband connection. However, if you would like to continue the broadband service, you must contact the BT Community Connections team on 0845 257 6792 two months before the end of the 12 months’ free period providing a postal address for monthly bills to be sent to. If you choose to continue the service BT will charge your account at the then current monthly package price from the end of the free 12 months’ award period.
•Winners must activate the award within four weeks of being notified that they have won an award.
•To activate the free broadband award, winners will be required to place an order by completing the broadband request form and accepting the terms and conditions supplied in the winners’ pack and returning the form to the address below. Once this has been received, the order will be processed.

•Where the award winner has a current connection with a different broadband supplier and where the initial contractual period has expired, BT will migrate the award winner on supply of a MAC code.
•Where the award winner has a current connection with a different broadband supplier BT will not cover any costs which may be incurred for transferring to BT Business Total Broadband Advance (opens in a new window).
•If your application is successful, please be advised that the award is for the use/benefit of the community group only and cannot be sold or transferred (in whole or in part) to a third party.
•All other costs above and beyond that detailed in the award package are the responsibility of the winner.
•As part of the award package, you will receive a free BT Business Hub. In order to activate the broadband service you will need to install the hub using the instructions provided.
•The hub will be sent, by Royal Mail, to the address the BT landline is registered to, unless otherwise specified.
•Delivery of a broadband connection will be dependent upon the date of ordering. The standard lead time is 10 working days but delivery dates may vary and will be subject to terms and conditions.

IMPORTANT NOTES
•BT excludes all liability and responsibility for any amount or kind of loss, damage, injury or disappointment that may result to you or your community group including without limitation, any direct, indirect, punitive or consequential loss or damages, or any loss of income, profits, goodwill, data, contracts, use of money, or loss or damages arising or connected in any way to business interruption, and whether in tort (including without limitation negligence), in connection with your application or award in the BT Community Connections scheme in any way. Nothing in this legal notice shall exclude or limit BT’s liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; or (b) fraud; or (c) any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
•British Telecommunications plc reserves the right to amend or terminate the programme with or without prior cause or notice to applicants.
•The award package and all of its components may at BT’s discretion be subject to change or substitution at any time during the award scheme.
•The connection to BT Business Total Broadband Advance is subject to availability and survey and a BT business telephone line is required. A minimum PC specification and 12 month minimum term apply. •This award cannot be used in conjunction with any other BT offer except award winners who already have a BT broadband package may switch to BT Business Total Broadband Advance. Winners who are already a BT broadband customer will be migrated free of charge to BT Business Total Broadband Advance. The free 12 months will commence from the date that migration is completed.
