Befriending Caithness Volunteers Needed
Do you have a spare hour? Do you have good listening skills? Are you trustworthy and reliable? Do you have an ability to motivate and encourage others whilst showing patience and understanding? If you have answered yes to these questions then becoming a befriender could be for you.
Befriending Caithness is a voluntary service within Caithness Voluntary Group in Wick. Our aim is to reduce isolation and loneliness in Caithness and also in Bettyhill and Strathy. They match volunteers to isolated adults aged 40 years and over.
Befriending is a supported one to one relationship between a befriender (volunteer) and a befriendee (someone who has been referred to us). It is initiated, supported by Befriending Caithness and gives the befriendee a chance to form a trusting non-judgemental relationship. Befriending usually means meeting with each other once a week and sharing in an activity which has been mutually agreed.
They are looking for volunteers particularly male volunteers, they have a waiting list of people who would love to have a Befriender in order to have a time of chatting, perhaps go out for a walk, perhaps a run in the car. Contact Angie, Kirsteen, Elspeth or Victoria on 01955 609962 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org they will be glad to give you some more information.
